One of the best sequels I've ever seen. Not sure if Toshirō Mifune is in more Kurosawa movies, but I hope so. What a legend.

Felt a bit weird to me watching a Kurosawa film that isn't black and white. Weird seeing the Fox logo before this as well. Also why isn't it on Disney+ if it's a Fox movie?? Anyway, another Akira Kurosawa masterpiece.

Why are men?
First Ozu movie in colour that I've seen. Kinda unexpected to be honest, but it was as beautiful as all his other movies I've seen so far. Much love for all the pipe smoking. Setsuko Hara supremacy. Loved the mother/daughter dynamic (at least until those manipulative old fucks messed everything up. Those mfs should mind their own fucking business). Ayako a feminist icon. Yukiko too for confronting those creeps. Not enough Cishū Ryū for my taste. Saito's score is incredibly beautiful again. Lowkey giving Ghibli vibes 💚 (sorry not sorry)

Wtf man. Coppola is obviously a legend and the cast is fucking great, but this was the weirdest fucking fever dream and not in a good way, I'm afraid. A mess of half cooked concepts and ideas. Idk maybe I just wasn't high enough for it.

The world needs more Ezra Miller.
