"I want to be an Avenger!"
After the double whammy of Deadpool & Wolverine and Comic-Con, what does the future hold for the MCU? Here are my quick predictions:
1/ the next couple years leading up to Avengers: Doomsday are going to be all about circling the wagons. Pulling the threads together, heroes, teams, etc., in a way the Multiverse Saga has since failed to do. The powers that be know they're behind on this, so it's gonna feel a bit like a scramble, but at least the throughline will become clear.
2/ Fantastic Four will function like a (better) version of Captain Marvel, supplying that missing piece, and hopefully giving just as strong a boost as Black Panther did going into Infinity War, reminding us what a magic Marvel movie can be.
3/ the next time we see Wade will be at the very start of Secret Wars, as he awakens in Doom's Battleworld, confused and horny violent. Similar to what we get with Hawkeye in Endgame (except for the horny part).
4/ lastly, for what it's worth, put me in the camp that thinks RDJ is playing a Tony Stark variant version of Doctor Doom. For the simple reason that all this multiversal shit has to pay off somehow.
Now, to wait three years to see if I was right.
(Sidenote: I tried the DBox thing for the opening credits, felt it added nothing to the experience, plus got a little queasy, so turned it off.)
