What's up everyone. This is a new short film called "Afterimage." I wrote and directed it alongside my pal Eli as some kind of unofficial collective thesis film from our ten years making movies together as students. I think it's the best thing either of us have ever made.

The scene where Beth can’t bring herself to take a picture with Conrad is excruciating and magnificent. Directorial debut go fuck yourself. Donald Sutherland’s performance is so gorgeous I could cry. The editing job here is nuts — scenes just kind of start, especially in the first act. Doesn’t seem intentional to be honest but I do think it works. The character dynamics are so sharp. I’m a better writer than I was 2 hours ago and if you haven’t seen this you will be too!

I find it kind of beautiful that this movie resists the teen movie urge to tell us What Happened Next, only speculating about Ferris’ future through the characters’ own thoughts on it. Maybe it says something about me that I interpret it sort of tragically, that “Ferris Bueller” as we know him isn’t the sort of person that can last forever.
