Saw this at the Vista in 35mm.
Firstly, I don’t know if playing a VICE SQUAD trailer before hand is doing MAXXXINE any favors … you know a legit Hollywood sleaze classic.
I’ve never seen a movie try to cram so much 80s and LA 80s at that into 100 minutes.
There is things I like (Universal backlot, Kevin Bacon resurrecting his JKF southern accent, the Hollywood sign climax). There are things I don’t like (the religious dad and church…
Maybe pick either the TCM narration/text crawl or the chapters format or the non-chronological order motif and not all three at once.
Was more interested in whatever the fuck that Barbara Hershey & Ed Begley Jr. backstory was.
Favorite character was guy who uttered: “I have a gun too.”
35mm cinematography was nice.
