And they say the first pilot I shot for my miniseries was slow and uneventful. Clearly none of those "jury" saw this film. The romance is lame and boring. The music was putting me to sleep. You can say as many have noted in their reviews that there's something of value, something decent if not great buried underneath this big pile of meh.
All in all, this film is so boring there's a scene where are couple are in the sitting in the forest and I swear you all, I heard the sound of someone snoring. Not making that up!

"Random Hearts" might just be the perfect title for this film, as it seems half baked. It has many things going and you can even distinguish three different plots, one concerning Dutch, one concerning Kay and one concerning both of them. All of these look like three separate films with great things going on for them but they culminate in nothing, or better put, they don't culminate at all. The film loses track of where it wants to go and to end, and it doesn't go anywhere as a consequence.
This one kinda snuck up on me, really ended up enjoying it. One of Harrison Ford’s best quiet performances. Still discovering things from 1999 which is fun and I think I appreciated it even more now than I would have then.

1999 was a real doozy of a year for film, wasn't it? All the retrospectives around that epochal twelve months make it look as if we partied from one end of the year to the other, lapping up one groundbreaking, mould-breaking film after another. 1999 has by now been rigidly codified as the best movie year ever, to the point that there's even books that bear that very title.
What few acknowledge, though, is that 1999 still saw just as much wheezy, tatty, dull star-driven studio product as any other year. Hoary vehicles like 'Runaway Bride', 'Double Jeopardy ', and bringing up the rear, Sydney Pollack's almost militantly stolid 'Random Hearts'.

''i was thinking about your mouth'' Now that's a line only harrison ford can get away with! Why does this movie get such low scores? Alright it's not really the best at anything but it's also not bad at anything i think it's a very solid romantic movie, maybe a little to long and maybe it needed another twist or something.
