Obviously I'm not the target demographic but this was pretty uncomfortable to watch. I had secondhand embarrassment for myself.

First things last, last things first. I did not care for the ending. No spoilers, but it dropped this down from outstanding to great for me.
That being said, I loved the mix of early Cronenberg, neo noir and even a hint of giallo (does our protagonist see what she thinks she sees?). It was like starting with REAR WINDOW and then breaking the window completely.
