Why does Hartnett talk to his teenage daughter like she’s a toddler?

Carol Danvers spent her life being told she wasn’t tough enough, wasn’t strong enough, wasn’t ready. But, oftentimes, the greatest motivation is being told what you can’t do or what you’re not meant to be. When your villain is invisible, I think credit for their performance should go to the protagonist for simply selling their existence.
As soon as you see the name Blumhouse Productions, you know a few things are probably true. The budget was low, the story is clever, and the director probably had a ton of freedom. I think all three of these things ring true with The Invisible Man.
