Top notch animation, beautiful adaptation of the Exodus.

Couldn't help but compare it with Le Mans, with the same Steve McQueen type of stoic protagonist obsessed with racing. But I have to say that the main character is more interesting here, a once-successful race car driver now stuck with a frustrating job as a driving instructor. In fact, the whole cast of characters was more interesting to follow than the one in Le Mans.
There were way too many driving scenes though. I get that it's a race car movie, but it got repetitive in a way that I didn't feel with other ones like Le Mans, Vanishing Point, Two-Lane Blacktop and so on.
Heard about this movie when it came out a decade ago, and I wasn't expecting to see it for the first time today with Wim Wenders in the screening room! Really enjoyed the movie in spite of it being in German/French/English and German subtitles. Great opportunity to also hear Wenders talk about his career afterwards.
