Over the last year I've really been grinding through climbing documentaries though never actually experiencing the sport much firsthand (and well past my prime to begin). I'm an Eagle Scout and did tons of outdoor adventures in my youth- it's something I miss dearly so between the nostalgia and interest in wilderness survival, I've been drawn to topics of outdoor freedom.

Touching the Void has an interesting approach to the storytelling. Most of the other climbing docs I've watched were like real time and themselves doing the feat. Touching the Void however is an interview retelling while an acted dramatization plays out. Honestly I wasn't real crazy about that. While the retelling of the events and achievement between the two climbers is extraordinary, I won't fault that whatsoever. The duo is brought to the very brink of life and death and do what is necessary to survive. A really incredible survival.
