On the Rocks

★★★

Sofia Coppola in *meh/ok/fine* mode.

The conceit here is that Rashida Jones is finding her father's rapscallion ways bleeding into the perception of her marriage and I think that's interesting.
But when you find out that a) there wasn't any problem in the marriage to begin with (aside from busy schedules) and b) it seems like it was all an excuse for Bill Murray to charmingly gallivant around New York City, I just wondered what the whole point of Laura's sleuthing was. Does it re-activate her sense of self on a creative level and on a personal level within her marriage? I guess so.
But I wanted more of a *light bulb* moment for Laura. Just apologizing to Marlan Wayans for being paranoid wasn't cutting it for me in of a resolution.

Still, Bill is his charming self and Rashida does well with what she's given. Definitely not one of Coppola's that I'm going to be eager to rewatch anytime soon, if I'm honest.
