HAPPY BIRTHDAY JASON. 

This movie looks great on the big screen. Made me like the movie more than I ever have. The vibes are perfect. So spooky. So campy. So summer. Feels just like summer on the east coast. The music is perfect. People say this movies boring and I think the reason is a lot of the deaths occur off screen. At least you get to see the aftermath ! But it’s a solid slasher. Great vibes. You can see the Halloween influence the most in this one. Def a classic. Def amazing to watch on the big screen. Saw it on the 45th anniversary on Jason’s bday too!!!

Idc this movies awesome

I love the way this movie is shot so much. The vibes are amazing. The only thing that holds this back is the plot. It’s a slow burn for sure.

I like leather faces look in this. I love the chainsaw. Some shots are shot beautifully. The vibe could have been spot on. But it’s a boring movie.

I’ve always loved this movie and always will. I will defend it for life. Such a fun movie.

They broke into this man’s house

Wow. Masterpiece.

I hating this movie. And then last year I LOVED it. Today’s rewatch…..eh its ok. There are some good moments. But overall it doesn’t feel like a Friday movie. Not a fan of Jason’s look. Not a fan of Jason cave. Loved the kill under the dock. Loved the boat kill. Loved the hanging sleeping bag.

Bro idk. People DESPISE THIS. I liking this when I was a kid. I think I tried watching it 5 years ago and I wasn’t feeling it. But today, wow I actually really liked this. Idk if it’s because the 2000 vibes are starting to age like wine now but I really did not mind this ! The vibe is dark. I don’t mind Freddy’s look. I like his dialogue. There are a couple of times towards then end where it does get too sexual but overall I thought he was super dark, menacing, and cheeky in a spooky way tho. Obviously not anywhere close to the og Freddy but it’s not anywhere near where people are saying this is an abomination. It’s not a boring movie. It’s a good ride. It’s well done. I like the actors. I like the 2000 style. People hate the acting in this but I really don’t see why. Maybe it’s cuz I grew up in this time. Maybe because I have nostalgia. Maybe because 2000s are coming into vogue. But I actually like it !

That car chase and that ending

Watched this after a while. I loving thins when I was a kid and rewatching this maybe around 4 years ago. I recently rewatched the beginning and loved it so much. I hated that movie when I was a kid but it grew on me so much. I think because of how much I enjoyed that movie it really brought down my rating of this movie now. The plot and pace is off. It’s just scenes happening and not really good or scart scenes. No character development. And not a big fan of leather face in this one.

This movie was cool. I loved the beginning. It was creepy and very intriguing. At about an hour in it started to lose me but I get why people would really like it. I like hit this movie feels like the thing and Halloween 3 put together.

I’m sadly not into this. Something is off. It’s lacking juice. It’s lacking the grittiness in an exploitation movie. Seems like the director wanted to copy Abel Ferrara and Scorsese but didn’t have the chops or the pink personality to create a gritty world. It looks great and Larry is amazing. But the other characters are off. They don’t have the edge to them. The dialogue is off. It seems miscast. Goldblum is usually great but he doesn’t have what it takes to be a drug boss. Neither is the higher ups in this movie. Like what was up with that hand slap scene 😂 someone made a review and said that it seemed like a comedy because how absurd things are and I totally agree. Weird. I can’t give it less than1 1/2 because of the cinematography and Larry fishburne is a master actor. But dam, not into it at all.

This movie makes me uncomfortable, it makes me laugh, it makes me sad, it makes me mad, it makes me feel seen, it makes me love people, it makes me hate people, it makes me feel bored, it makes me feel intrigued, it makes me feel entertained, it makes me feel drained, it makes me smirk. Im not 100 percent sure how I feel about it. Maybe that’s the point. I don’t love it. I don’t hate it at all. I actually really enjoyed it. Def sparks so much emotion. Shows America. Shows how fucked up people can be. Show how lovable people can be. It shows humans. That’s a work of art.

I only really enjoyed the people can lick story. The move feels like a goosebumps or are u afraid of the dark episode but I like those shows a lots better. Has a great vibe but the stories are ok. Slow and ok. Nice to have on the background during October tho for sure.

Fun movie. Great cat and mouse chasing. Great camera work. De Palma and Hitchcock vibes. Funny comedic times. Meta. Solid flick.

William petersen is so fresh

Al Pacino is the best actor of all time hands down

Love the slow introduction into the world. Abel unravels the dirty ny and introduces you to the other side of the coin with pissed off cops getting duked by the system. All builds until the third act when shit hits the fan. It really flows and builds well

Beautiful, creative, tortured soul. Rest in power.

Stylish. Gritty. Grimey. Dark. Cool. Love the New York dialogue.

Idk man……

I loved x and pearl so so so much. This movie had all the potential. There are things that are great but over all it seems like a mess. A mish mash of ideas ti forced into a movie together. There are cool homages and references to b movies, genres, directors that I love. Mia is great. Bacon did great too. It looks good. There’s some good set pieces like the video tape killer in the beginning.  Buster Keaton.

But the writing was corny. Nothing flowed together. The Kevin bacon character takes you away from the story and then just randomly ends. The ending felt lackluster and rushed. Everything feels forced. I feel like history movies the time setting felt more genuine. This one feels like it’s 80s in 2020s. 

I wish we had a different ending to a great story/character made in x. I watched this in the theater and was so underwhelmed. I felt robbed. I tried watching it a couple more times on streaming but couldn’t finish it. I just got a 4k and it looks amazing. But it still doesn’t make up for the script. Maybe it’ll grow on me ? Maybe it’ll age well. But right now, idk, it’s a real bummer.

This is a dark entry from argento. His prior films are very fun and playful. Filled with jaw dropping imagery. Beautiful shots. Fun and playful music and camera work. Spooky atmosphere. Makes for a great watch and fun rewatch.

This movie is not that. Extremely beautiful opening. Then turns extremely dark. I think Asia did a great job in this performance. You see how the trauma affects her in so many ways. Visually. Emotionally. How she reacts to people. The movie just feels dreadful and filled with grief. I am a man and can’t even imagine what it’s like to go thru an incident like what’s shown in this movie. Shame. Guilt. Sadness. Grief. I think this movie shows how awful and traumatic an experience like this could be.

Not my favorite argento I think he loses a little bit of his chops in this or maybe it’s not meant to show off his creativity like his other entries.  Maybe it’s just a dark and bleak character study. Which it sure is. Successful film in that regard. I’m usually not the biggest fan of revenge movies because the nature of the subjectivity. But I can look at it for what it is. It drags a lot. Def slow. Nothing in this that made my jaw drop like every single film he did before this has.

Def a work of art. Just not for me. I can’t see me rewatching this many times in my life. But I’m happy I saw it.

I liked the original music score. I love slashers. I love prom settings. But this movie wasn’t too great. Had goosebumps vibes at times which I liked but overall I feel like they were trying to make it hip with todays gen. So much dancing. So much 80s music in the soundtrack. I think having the majority of the movie at the prom was its downfall. No change of setting made it boring to me (like how Friday part 8 drags because they’re stuck on the boat for the whole movie lol). I really liked the kills even tho it was cgi as hell.

Not my jam. I love the original. Probably the best vibes. 

A lot of people talk very highly of this sequel but I’m not sure. It didn’t do it for me. It’s more actiony which I get why people dig. It ups the ante from the original. But I love the simplicity of the original. I love the spookiness. The theme to me doesn’t translate to make a big time sequel. Maybe if I watch it again it’ll get on my good side. 

But as for a first watch. I wasn’t really feeling it. I didn’t like the music as much. I didn’t like the vibe. The tall man didn’t seem as cool as the og. I was constantly grabbing my phone thru this. It was cool to see some things explored more in the lore. And the sphere scene was cool. Reggie was p sick too 🤘

Solid 3 ⭐️

Most rock n roll movie

When I first found out about a psycho remake I thought it would be awful. A mistake. A crime! 

But after watching psycho 2, my mind quickly changed. It was a solid continuation of such an iconic story. 

When I found out about part 3 I read that a lot of people disliked it. It was more sleazy gory and campy. This intrigued me….

I totally get why people don’t like this movie. If you’re strictly a criterion snob looking for a masterpiece by Hitchcock then you might not be interested in this. 

As a lover of b horror and slashers/exploitation, this movie is sick. Just my taste lol

It’s so beautifully shot. I have the arrow 4k box set and it just looks incredible. Perkins did a fantastic job directing this. I really like the story. I think Norman’s character development makes sense. You know he’s off his rocker but you also kind of root for him. There’s a little bit of nightmare on elm st vibes in this mixed with blood simple. I really liked this one ! I was surprised. But pleasantly surprised! It’s not psycho 1960 by any means. But it’s a fun more serious slasher ! 

Excited to watch part 4!

Hell yea!

If you’re a fan of giallo ur gonna love this movie. Its has everything you can possibly want. Good kills. Great tone. Lovable characters. Style. Good music. Good cinematography. The mystery is great. Pacing is locked in and keeps you interested for the next scene. Good reveal. Although it’s not spectacular or anything revolutionary. It’s a good movie and must watch for any fan of gialli.

This movie started off great but then got slow and dragged and never really redeemed itself

I really can’t decide how I feel about depalma. 

His camera work is amazing. Set pieces are stylish and suspenseful. Cool themes. He has great Italian influences. But there’s just something that doesn’t hit for me. One cylinder that just doesn’t spark.

I like the giallo influence in this one. The dialogue here is bad and I dislike every character. The story just doesn’t hit me like it should. This movie is slow at times. Some scenes are dragged out well to hold suspense. Some scenes are dragged out but I don’t feel bored because of the visuals. But then there are slow moments that are just dull and have me checking my watch. That ending was p bonkers and not in a good bunkers horror type way. 

I really want to be in awe and be stoked to have a new fav director. On paper depalma would be a filmmaker perfect for my taste. But there’s just something I can’t pinpoint that falls short of a Scorsese, or a Coppola, or even an argento.

Love the J&D Giallo reference

Holy grail

I once saw someone say if a slasher is better than prom night then it’s good. If it’s worse then it’s bad. I agree with that. This movie had so much potential to be a banger but it falls short. It’s good median. A standard 80s slasher. The vibe is on point. I love the setting. The way it’s filmed. The giallo feel. But what brings this movie down is the lack of kills until the end. It just drags until the 3rd act. And it’s sad it seems like they were either cut from showing too much or they were modest and didn’t film the kills to be gorey. But the 3rd act pull the movie up from the trenches with fun imagery. I like the killers look and voice. The disco and neon colors are nice too. Just wish there was more in the middle to juice up the movie. 

Movie reminds me of the prowler where the vibes are on point but it’s drags. The thing that sets that movie apart is the kills are spread apart better and the kills are INCREDIBLE. MR SAVINIS BEST WORK IN THAT. 

Prom Night is not bad. It’s not great. It’s ok. But def a must watch and must to keep in your library if you’re a slasher fan.

Scariest and grossest movie ever made. Even if you don’t actually see the most gruesome gore. You feel the stench and heat. The atmosphere and imagery of dead animals and bones and skin everywhere crawl under your skin. The absolute brutality the family put onto sally. She will be changed forever. Leather face is a terrified man boy brought up by a sadistic p.o.s.  Terrifying imagery. The 16mm is beautiful and terrifying at the same time. Brings another layer to the film. You feel the grit from the grain. This movie always leaves you feeling dirty. I’ve seen banned movies. Crazy gore. Sleazy and dirty movies. But this movie will always be on top. Best horror movie ever made for the reason what makes horror horror. Its scary.

I like the cat and mouse in the first wrong turn more. Felt more suspension had me on the edge of my seat. 

This one’s just fun. Absurd. Good gore. Funny stuff. Product of its time with the style, reality show plot, video quality. So sick. WE EVEN GOT HENRY ROLLINS.  

If you’re looking for a fun time on a Friday night. You found the flick.

Fun entertaining and gorey installment in the tcm franchise. Def towards the top of the tier list.

YES.  ANOTHER BANGER FROM LAMBERTO. He’s gearing up to be one my fav Italian directors. The way he edits is so flawless. The pace just keeps you rolling and intrigued. His stories have great twists and turns. Sometimes I get bored from mystery if not done well but he keeps you guessing the movie. No down time. His cinematography speaks to my taste so well. 

The imagery in this one is so good. The photographs. The masks. The lighting. The style. So good.

Lowering it a half star for the cop out ending tho…….

Wow this movie is awesome. It was so suspenseful mysterious and intriguing. It’s slow but I was not bored at all. I was hooked the whole time. The mystery is layed out so perfectly. The murder scenes are so good. Lamberto def took notes from his father and had a bunch of influence from argento. The music reminds me from a fulci movie. It was shot beautifully. The shadows and blue light remind me of Halloween. The killer is so creepy. The reveal was great. And it’s even got BOB! Iykyk

Simple story. Simple setting. But it’s firing. 

Great giallo. Bravo. Underrated !!!

Not my taste. Coherent mystery for fulci but it lacks thrill for me. The opening had a much darker tone but it went away for the rest of the film. I was p bored during this viewing. I will try another time and see if it hits me better in the future.
