Rafael "Mister Movie" Jovine’s review published on Letterboxd:
Fight! - Stallone v. Schwarzenegger: A Rivalry of Muscular Proportions
Sooo, technically, I watched this film in theaters. I believe I mentioned this in my The Italian Job review, but I watched about five minutes of it the day I went to see the Jason Statham film. We got there earlier and they were playing in the next room, so we went and watched while we waited. However, I believe I never watched the whole thing in its entirety until now.
And it was alright. I wasn’t expecting all the gore and blood, like the cop or dude getting killed by our sexy robot stabbing him with her hands. Also, the truck street scene was awesome—nowhere near as good as the one in T2, but still really good. The arrival of the T-X is iconic. Arnold, as expected, delivered on the quips and didn’t really disappoint.
Unfortunately, our new John Connor, Nick Stahl, was very dull and Danes too. Not so much because of their performance, but the writing certainly didn’t help. Everything with them was mid.
All in all, it has its moments, especially in of some of the action set pieces and Arnie's delivery, but overall, this was a major step down.
BTW: a lot of people complained about the opening in Dark Fate with John, but that whole thing was pretty much cannon. They brought it up here.
