I’m launching a virtual screening series called Prayer Conditioning TV, and the inaugural screening is called CARBON GHOSTFACE: A Post-Scream Shriekfest! It’s a 12-hour, 7-film marathon of films indebted to Wes Craven’s classic Scream (1996).

The screening will take place on JULY 9TH, and the lineup is as follows:

12:05pm THE CLOWN AT MIDNIGHT (1998)
(dir. Jean Pellerin)

1:40pm DEAD MAN’S CURVE  (1998)
(dir. Dan Rosen)

3:15pm SSSSHHH… (2003)
(dir. Pavan Kaul)

6:00pm GOSSIP (2000)
(dir. Davis Guggenheim)

7:35pm CUT (2000)…

For The Film Magazine, I wrote in praise of this film and its 'Bizarro Cut' for its 10th anniversary. I think David Wain is one of the best American comedy directors of the 21st century, and how this film's two iterations work in unison represents exactly why I feel that way.

Check it out here!

and David Wain says you should too!!

drugged out, washed up, surreal noirification of a pathetic, repugnant version of three criminals' real lives who match each of the above adjectives. Cage channeling Bogart is the key here, and its genius hit me in the final scene: an exhausted, out of touch criminal yearns for the days of clean, glorified crime and miserably miscalculates each and every encounter. so much fun, so completely wacked out; Cage and Dafoe own this.
