love the adventure and the kids in this. captain mother is an icon. i want to protect the robots! i would love to live on laputa.

why was i sobbing for this cgi creature? loved the neighbor and lilo was very cute too. now i wanna rewatch the og. the message is simple about finding your family and how doing bad things doesn’t make you bad, it just got to me today.

this is fun, reminds me of the newer black mirror episode that came out even though i know that came after this. i expected more twists than there were because it just seemed like they were coming. also love how unbothered mom juliette lewis was by the end, she was like oh alright, hacker kween’s got this, no need to follow up on why my daughter was parkouring all night around nyc for money.

some of the scenes are just nasty but that’s on me as an unappreciator of gore. love ayo edebiri and the concept is thrilling but doesn’t feel fully polished. john malkovich is good at being creepy. i kept thinking there was going to be some sort of supernatural element because of the glowing eyes thing and everyone being obsessed with his shitty music? but ig that is not the case.

randomly watched because i kept saying “drink your juice, shelby!” love the film’s perfect blend of comedy and tragedy (“hit her!” is such an iconic line). my eyes were opened to the ouiser/claree lesbian energy and both of them have the best one-liners throughout. sally field is a powerhouse.

how did he get this internship if he comes straight out the gate talking to everyone like that? 🤨

kind of annoying how the woman has no real character but that’s just expected sometimes unfortunately and this is a very subjective film where there’s not really depth to any character and it’s more about the experience. i didn’t know that this was going to be mostly still images going in and felt a bit apprehensive learning that but i didn’t need to be, the viewing felt immersive and it emphasizes the rhythm of the editing when basically everything is a jump cut (esp the first experimentation scene). the ending feels kind of predictable now but i feel like it could have been mind blowing at the time it was released.

never got too into this, the style is cool though and i like the glare in the replicants’ eyes detail.. thought they might delve deeper into questioning if harrison ford is a robot but i guess not. the “”romance”” is flat and icky. haven’t watched a ton of noirs but liked it following that same format with the narration and dreary environment but all futuristic. the 2019 year drop was shocking. enjoy the fits and the gymnastics of the replicants.

really loved this. pansy reading everyone for filth is often both hilarious and deeply sad. chantelle and her daughters are so bright in contrast, despite chantelle dealing with similar grief. i want better for moses!! and everyone really. it’s moving to watch family still love and be there for someone despite them being miserable to be around. the ending felt a bit abrupt but with how grounded hard truths felt, it may have been weird to wrap up neatly.

those kids were crazy. bob made me mad not because of his free spirit stuff but because he was definitely hypocritical expecting his older partners to just wait around for him and revolve their lives around him when any hint of them expecting something from him made him freak and run away. i found myself really rooting for both daniel and alex as characters.

sad to be finished with this trilogy!! feel like i could watch 12 more hours of this world (will have to revisit for the extended editions). still sympathize with smeagol/gollum but at least he died doing what he loved (being with precious 💖). bit of a confusing ending like where did rosie cotton come from and why are they taking ancient bilbo on this boat?? just let him rest, but i guess they were going to elf island to rest. the battles are epic, and sam really pulls through - that’s why it was annoying frodo just dipped on him in the end, but whatever. gandalf wielding the sword against the orcs made me laugh a lil.

i’m pro smeagol/gollum! he’s trying his best and just wants his precious. crazy how everyone was shocked that the extremely evil-looking advisor to the king was evil. also that king was useless, they might as well left him to be cursed. just like his ancestor from the anime movie. loved legolas serving and gimli trying to get his kill streak.

first time actually watching this and it slaps. need to watch the next two ASAP!

enjoyed this quite a lot! solid slasher focused on taking down the “nice guy” archetype. the ethics of robots vs. humans is always interesting to explore, and how it could easily be some other human deemed as “other” treated in the same ways.

the whole time i was like omg they are just wasting cameron diaz’s time, why don’t they just get together…. and then the ending happened and i was like oh okay. michael was boring and a dick the whole time tho so i feel like he and julia deserved each other more, but cameron will be okay.

glad to have finally watched this after reading the book. the visuals are gorgeous and it’s easy to root for most of these boys. ponyboy and johnny at the church is probably my favorite section. the cast is obviously stacked!

so annoying when a movie is made for what feels like just to set up another sequel… but the visuals were cool, and i liked the bat lady (though we don’t get any resolution to her story besides the post credits scene??). feels very formulaic as well which is tiring but moana is a charming protagonist to watch. and her sister is cute!

gal gadot gave the performance i expected and i lived.

the visuals were gorgeous. most appreciated the parallels between how everyone responded to justine’s depression and how everyone responded to the melancholia planet approaching earth - both by just pretending everything was fine and can be resolved by just willing it away, unwilling to initially face something that can’t be fully controlled or known. this was slow though and some parts just felt a bit silly like her knowing the exact bean count. the two sisters didn’t feel too much like real people to me and more just symbolic but maybe that’s intentional as this is clearly a meditative film more concerned with existential questions than a linear narrative. enjoyed watching this in a theater though and discussing it after.

great buddy comedy!! sza and keke palmer are both so charismatic to watch and have great chemistry. even if i was stressed for keke because of sza’s actions most of the movie. loved how it leaned into tropes like the villain origin story for berniece and the freeze-frame epilogue titles for each character. loved their interactions with the woman at the loan office.

i liked how disorienting this felt and it was a really cool portrayal of memory. didn’t much from the first time i watched but i appreciated it more this time. joel + clementine’s relationship is touching and i like that we get pulled into their intimate moments, i think i just struggle to fully connect at times because we get so little of clementine’s pov and her character feels less grounded. but i guess the whole point is that most of the movie is entirely from joel’s memories so that makes sense. the ridiculousness of the memory erasing people is crazy but entertaining.

mikey madison is amazing as everyone is saying. anora is captivating from start to end, and i just wanted to keep following ani because i wanted everything to work out for her.

i would have been obsessed with this movie in middle school: the Special Boy trope, the classic high fantasy vibes, the farming (shout out rune factory), the queer-coded willem dafoe villain, the gorgeous animation. i still liked it now and thought this world was really cool, but it lost me a bit after a certain point where i didn’t really know what to be invested in with so many mysteries going on and still following a traditional “battle the final boss” plot.

and with that the BJCU (Bridget Jones Cinematic Universe) comes to a close. did not expect this to be so sad and make me cry several times but i’m not too mad about it! it was nice getting to see (most of) these characters at an older stage of their lives, and i love how every attractive person continues to be obsessed with bridget. a great installment in the recent MILF renaissance!

still gearing up for the new film! this one’s not as good as the first two, but still fun and full of bridget jones messiness. everyone continues to be obsessed with this chaotic woman. 

also love how they randomly killed off hugh grant but then didn’t and teased him like a marvel movie at the end?

and ALSO, finishing this again is how i find out colin firth is dead in the next one (giving meryl in mamma mia! here we go again)…. because we were like how do these two manage to split up again after all of this.

loved! the drama was exciting, and i loved ralph fiennes digging up the dirt on everyone while trying to not be shady about it. love watching a diva off. sister agnes’s curtsey was also iconic.

the ending made sense thematically but felt more underdeveloped and inauthentic than the rest of the film.

forgot most of the first one but that was fine. the animation is stunning and i love the blend of styles that somehow all gel well together. the end was a bit disappointing as there was no real resolution or payoff for this 2+ hour film, but i still really enjoy all the characters. the story was cool but i wish there was a bit more contained within this film to feel like a full story.

i live for my messy queen bridget jones. still need to read this book and just discovered the new movie is coming out next week! i’m sat!

had been a while since i watched this. this had me sobbing a couple times?? all the dragons just made me think of junie, my dog, and the beautiful bond we have with pets/animals. 🥹 

the dad deserved to be eaten tbh!

this felt like a fever dream

i feel like some people are watching this with too much nostalgia because dimitri was awful!! the villain made no sense but i liked the movie okay overall, pooka was cute. very disney-esque in a good way.

all this started because that man couldn’t handle one punch after he wanted a fight in the first place. all the people in charge were dumb but that felt realistic. loved the eagles and the random old woman, the animation and fight sequences were cool!

funniest scenes were with the book babies moms. the husband’s character felt a bit poorly executed with nightbitch + his dialogue really spelling out exactly their marital issues with responsibility for their child instead of showing that in a more natural way. loved the amy adams/dog morphing and just how crazy this was, the ambiguity was kinda fun too if she’s just insane or not. wasn’t too certain what was going on with the amish mom.

i know what’s gonna happen with stingray grandma and yet she still gets me every time….

very fun, goofy comedy! loved alan cumming’s presence and the dancing scene was iconic. lisa kudrow’s so good as always with her dry delivery.

iconic energy with dolly leaving the big, commercial city to connect with her rustic roots, find a sexy mountain man, take down the cops, battle a campy witch, and become mother to a gaggle of orphan children.

all the other kids absolutely roasting charlie brown at every chance they get will always be funny.

should have tapped out as soon as i saw ryan reynolds in a fat suit but i didn’t have the energy to pick another random holiday movie from my streaming services.

some of the logic for besting jason bateman here did not add up to me… but it was fun and enjoyable!

very heartwarming + charming! loved the vintage style. the characters resonated with me and i cared for them all. appreciated the ending for neatly resolving their arcs and showing how the winter break deeply changed each of them and their lives moving forward.

fave part was last christmas with chappell roan! i found the special’s time spent on cynically referencing itself as being a standard christmas special grating rather than just performing the numbers/skits and going all in with it. but the music and guest appearances were fun and it’s cool to see sabrina carpenter’s star rising.

iconic christmas cinema. on this viewing we noticed a troubling implication that dolly parton may have been responsible for the hit and run that puts the 10-year-old town bartender in the hospital — after the accident, she tells her fellow angel “phase one complete” in their plans to fix the heart of christine baranksi. 

this movie is delightfully unhinged and i always forget that it’s a musical.

holds up as scarily accurate… very curious if there’s anyone who exists in a corporate setting like this but doesn’t see it through a lens similar to office space. the romance was the weakest part of the film and just didn’t feel relevant or necessary, though i enjoyed jennifer aniston’s dealings with the service industry. mostly always find myself loving a well done satire.
