Cold War

In January of 2019 I saw Cold War at a local art theater just because it was there and I had movie (or sinemia by that point?). It immediately became of my favorite movies of all time, to the point where I’ve been scared to rewatch it because I might not feel the same way. Thankfully I had no reason to worry. If anything I was able to appreciate the filmmaking and themes like authenticity in art and life even more. I definitely won’t be waiting 3 years before my next viewing. And it’s an art film that’s under 90 minutes!! How often do you get the chance to see that??

Cold War is truly the best-filmed black and white film in modern times. I was stunned all over again by some of those shots, and the final moments gave me all the same feelings. Joanna Kulig. Ugh. So perfect in every way.

Even though I didn’t have LB at the time of my first viewing, I was lucky to enough to have a friend ask me to write some reviews for his website for a bit, and I still really like what I wrote for Cold War. popculturebento.com/cold-war-the-other-black-and-white-foreign-film-is-a-brilliantly-bleak-love-story/
