Tommy Lee Jones is just constantly chasing after guys

Shockingly good "copaganda". By making Jamie Lee Curtis's character lose her job in the first five minutes, it allows the narrative to build an artificial distance between the person and the profession. This doesn't just rely on Machiavellian principles to justify firing bullets and spray blood, it actually makes the character a sympathetic civilian who just so happens to have a gun & training.

Look, if you're gonna start treating Disney Channel after-school schlock as Oscar-worthy, you might as well go back in time and give LIZZIE MCGUIRE a Best Pic nomination too, it's only fair.

I’m surprised more people weren’t insulted by the obviousness of everything that goes on in this. From the first shot the movie pretty much announces that there’s nothing it’s hiding from you & hammers you w/ a very nauseating glossy aesthetic (compliment & insult)
