In no particular order.
Factors I considered in deciding which films to pick included not just the quality of the film itself but also whether the story being told was unique and interesting enough to warrant a film adaptation.

I've excluded films that were set around an actual event but contained heavily fictionalized stories (eg: Titanic).

However I have included some more fun real life tales which likely have taken liberties with the truth (eg: Bernie, ILYPM) as they maintain the factual event(s) as the central basis for the script.
