The pacing is pretty frustrating, and it can be quite obnoxious for extended periods, but I can still see why I liked this as a kid (cool magic, violence, monsters).

It feels like this should be a streaming release, and I think they could have let some of the fight scenes breath a little because the frenetic cutting can make good choreography feel messy, but if you like The Karate Kid franchise and it's demented quest to shoehorn everything into one massive canon, then it's worth a look.

Probably one of the more propagandistic efforts I've seen from Disney Marvel in a while (lots of US military hero bullshit in this one) but it also seems (at least on its surface) to be less actively insidious than Deadpool and Wolverine when it comes to Disney trying to appease the fascists.

It is also an absolute chop job, though, so maybe all the really evil stuff ended up on the cutting-room floor.

Also there's a shot of Tim Blake Nelson in this (literally just a medium wide) that looked so out of focus and weird that I couldn't stop thinking about it.
